The Planning and Zoning Department was created in September, 1999. Previously, planning and zoning was part of the Community Development Department, which was dismantled and its functions distributed among the various city departments. The reorganization was effectuated to provide for increased focus on planning and redevelopment, as well as improve the delivery of development review and code enforcement services.
