Lauderhill makes good sense for business purposes. Our city is located in
Central Broward County, less than one mile west of the City of Fort
Lauderdale. Your business location is just a short ride from air transport
facilities located at the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport,
as well as, the shipping facilities of Port Everglades, the deepest seaport
south of Norfolk, Virginia. In addition to Federal post offices located
nearby, a substantial UPS shipping and distribution facility is also located
in Lauderhill. If your business requires easy access to the major Florida
highways, the Florida Turnpike, Interstates 75, 95 and 595 and the Sawgrass
Expressway all are within close proximity to our city.
Lauderhill is a
thriving city of over 70,824 residents. The median age of Lauderhill
residents is 34.9 years and 57.2% of the population is between the ages of
18 and 64. Our business and residential communities enjoy one of the lowest
millage rates in the county. In addition, we provide a full range of
services, either directly or through franchise agreements, such as water and
sewer, garbage collection, cable TV and propane gas.
Lauderhill provides an
abundance of social, recreational and education activities citywide. The
City has seven public schools, many churches and synagogues and two
libraries. City facilities include several beautiful parks, tennis courts
and ball fields, and two swimming pools, which have enabled us to create a
complete leisure environment, enjoyed by both our business community and
city residents, alike. Whether you are looking to relocate your business,
your home or both to Lauderhill, we hope you will take full advantage of all
our city has to offer. The Mayor, City Commission, and City Manager are
pleased to extend to you the hospitality of Lauderhill. We know you will
find Lauderhill to be one of Broward County’s finest cities.
The City of
Lauderhill, now in its fourth decade of progress, is meeting the challenges
of the future, by developing a new perspective on growth management and
economic, residential and commercial development. Planned growth and
redevelopment, economic enhancement opportunities, neighborhood preservation
and improved human and social services are all city objectives, which will
be met by strategic planning, expanding existing resources and creative
financing techniques. With these tools, Lauderhill gains the momentum
necessary to reshape its urban environment to meet future community needs,
goals and desires. Lauderhill was incorporated in 1959 with approximately
100 residents and many acres of developable land. From beautiful grazing
pastures, single-family homes began to dominate an early, urban landscape.
Lauderhill grew by nearly 30,000 residents between 1970 and 1980, primarily
as a result of the promotional activities of the Jackie Gleason Inverarry
Golf Classic and the “Inverrary lifestyle”. Inverrary’s tropical
landscaping, towering trees, waterfalls and waterways exemplify its
atmosphere of quality living. These high standards set the guidelines used
by future developers of quality communities citywide.
Lauderhill encompasses 8.6 square miles, with a population of over 70,000
persons and contains an abundance of fine single and multi-family
residences. Our business community is diverse, ranging from service
organizations to light industry. Residents and business owners are key
assets of the community. They are informed, active and concerned.
Lauderhill is known for its innovative efforts to improve the quality of
life, including health and social services programs, recreational activities
and events for the appreciation of culture and the arts.
Lauderhill’s
subtropical climate is one of the most favorable in the United States
because of the Gulf Stream and Tridents airstreams. The Gulf Stream air
stabilizes temperatures, while the Tridents air stream provides cool summers
and warm winters. The city has easy access to the beaches and other local
attractions in Broward, Palm Beach and Dade counties. The Fort
Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport is approximately 5 miles
southeast of Lauderhill. Port Everglades, the east coast second deepest
port, is within close proximity. A completed network of new super highways
helps eliminate problems of traffic congestion, which aid in recreation,
travel and commercial transportation needs.
